Master Hui Son Choe is bearer of the 7.Dan Hapkido and the 6.Dan Teakwondo. Those who want to learn more about Master Hui Son Choe or want to view some techniques from the books online, may click at this address http://www.worldhapkido.com. The first work of Master Choe is divided into six chapters deals briefly with the history and the principles of Hapkido. In the ”Exercise” chapter warming up, breathing and falling exercises are described on 10 pages. Afterwards the ”Basic Techniques” chapter follows. Here techniques of hand releases, defense against impacts, knife, sword, long stick and pistol attacks as well as techniques against holding the clothes are demonstrated. With almost 100 pages this chapter is the most extensive of the book. The ”Self-Defense” deals on 14 pages with kick and choking defense. Whereupon the ”Combination Techniques” follows, in with combination techniques are shown on each on a double page. In the last chapter ”Kicking Techniques” various basic kicks are demonstrated on scarce six pages: unfortunately with very few photos. The photos in this book are very clear and neat. The motions are illustrated clearly by means of arrows. The number of photos per technique is absolutely sufficient, with the exception of the kicks. The descriptions of the techniques are scarce, but usually sufficient. The sequence of the techniques is a little confusing, as e.g. not all defense techniques against knife attacks follow each other, but are scattered throughout the whole book. This circumstance makes it more difficult for the reader to find his way through the book.
Picture quality: Very good Number of pictures: Good Description: Satisfactory Contents: Good Structure: Unsatisfactory Judgement: A recommendable book!
